WALTON, Ind.
Three men are accused of taking a small town's fire engine out for a joy ride last week.
Benjamin Allen Miller, of Walton, and Justin Bryce Corn, of Chalmers, both 19, are charged with auto theft and criminal trespass, while Aaron Scott Richardson, of Walton, 21, is charged with assisting a criminal, the Pharos-Tribune reported.
A firefighter with the Walton Community Volunteer Fire Department spotted the fire engine being driven late Wednesday, police said.
When the Cass County Sheriff's Department and Walton firefighters gave chase, the truck stopped along County Road 950 South in Cass County and two people ran into a nearby cornfield, police said.
Corn and Miller turned themselves in to police a few hours later. Richardson, who was not riding in the truck but is accused of dropping the men at the fire station, also turned himself in early Thursday.
Police said all three men had been drinking. Investigators believe one of the men knew the code to get inside the fire station.
