Suspected Drunk Teen Hits Colo. Police Car

A patrol supervisor in Colorado Springs was hit by a suspected drunken driver on Thursday morning

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.

A patrol supervisor in Colorado Springs was hit by a suspected drunken driver on Thursday morning, police said.

The supervisor was driving northbound on Weber Street at 12:15 a.m. When the sergeant drove into the intersection at Boulder Street, the sergeant said the patrol car was hit by a Saturn that ran a red light.

The patrol car spun nearly 180 degrees, police said.

The front right passenger of the Saturn had to be extricated. The passenger was taken to a hospital, police said.

The driver of the Saturn and the patrol sergeant suffered minor injuries.

The driver of the Saturn, Sara Ely, 18, was arrested on suspicion of DUI and other traffic related charges, police said.
