SAN DIEGO

A search is underway Wednesday for a man who escaped from the back of a sheriff's squad car.

Dylan Castle, 21, was arrested by sheriff deputies around 9 p.m. Tuesday on drug charges in Santee. Castle attempted to escape for the first time there and injured a deputy in the process.

Castle was put in the back of a cruiser and was in the process of being taken to Central Jail in downtown when he attempted to escape again and succeeded. He jumped out of the back of the car, still in handcuffs, on Ash Street right off state Route 163.

Police searched the area and was unable to find him.

Castle is described as a fair skinned white male in his 20s. He has a shaved head with a blonde goatee and moustache.

Deputies ask that you call 911 if you see him.
