Texas Officer in Intensive Care After Crash
April 30--A Cleburne police officer injured in a Friday wreck near Poindexter and Buffalo streets remains stable in the intensive care unit of Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth, CPD Deputy Chief Amy Knoll said Monday morning.
A CareFlite helicopter flew officer Aaron Beseda, 33, to the hospital about 7 p.m. Friday.
Knoll said Beseda seems to be improving but had no additional news of his condition at this time.
Beseda was responding to an assault call at the time of the accident.
Although the accident remains under investigation, Beseda was traveling westbound on Poindexter Street with his emergency lights and siren activated, according to police reports.
The driver of a second vehicle apparently turned left in front of and struck Beseda's car, which caused Beseda's car to roll over and strike two other vehicles. One vehicle was parked and unoccupied and the driver of the other pulled over to the side of the road when she saw Beseda's police car approaching, according to reports. One of the vehicles landed partially on top of Beseda's car.
The driver of the other vehicle involved, Manual Sanchez, 36, of Cleburne, was transported to Huguley Memorial Medical Center via CareFlite ambulance in unknown condition.
The occupants of the vehicle that pulled over to side of the road suffered no injuries.
Firefighters found Beseda sitting upright in the car with the door open. The car's air bags did not deploy and it is unknown if Beseda was wearing a seat belt, according to reports.
Beseda has six years of law enforcement experience and has been with CPD for 3 1/2 years.
