Top IRS Criminal Investigator Dies After Workout

Julio La Rosa, director of field operations for the IRS Criminal Investigation Division, suffered a fatal heart attack while taking part in the agency's physical fitness program on Jan. 3.

The director of field operations for the IRS Criminal Investigation Division died on duty on Jan. 3, according to The Officer Down Memorial Page.

Julio La Rosa suffered a fatal heart attack while taking part in the agency's physical fitness program.

He was conducting his morning workout routine in the agency's gym when he collapsed.

La Rosa served in the role for 18 years and is survived by his wife and two sons.
