Calif. Officer Shot by Bank Robber
An officer who was shot by a Chino bank robber Wednesday remained hospitalized Thursday morning in stable condition.
Police are continuing their search for the gunman.
Officers say they received new information indicating the shooter was in a charcoal gray 2009 to 2011 Nissan Maxima with tinted windows and chrome wheels. They previously said the vehicle was an Altima.
The suspect, wearing a bullet-proof vest and carrying an assault rifle, took an undisclosed amount of money from California Bank and Trust, 5455 Riverside Drive on Wednesday morning.
As he was exiting the bank, a Chino police officer on patrol spotted him.
Four shots were fired, but it was unknown if the officer returned fire.
The officer suffered at least one gunshot wound when the robber opened fire, and drove himself to a hospital about a block away.
