California Officer, Prisoner Hurt in Crash

A Chula Vista police officer and a prisoner were taken to the hospital after another car crashed into the patrol car on Wednesday.

CHULA VISTA, Calif. --

A Chula Vista police officer and a prisoner were taken to the hospital after another car crashed into the patrol car on Wednesday.

The crash occurred at about 8 p.m. in the 800 block of East H Street in Chula Vista.

Police said the officer's patrol car was stopped at the intersection when it was rear-ended by another car traveling about 40 to 50 mph.

The officer and the prisoner were taken to local hospitals. Their injuries were unknown. The driver of the other car was not injured.

The Chula Vista police traffic division is investigating the crash.
