SHENANGO TWP., Pa.

A New Castle man has been charged with punching a Shenango Township police officer.

Adam Ginocchi, 36, is accused of punching Officer Michael McGuire.

Officer McGuire was investigating a crash Monday evening that involved Ginocchi's child.

Police said Ginocchi began screaming at the volunteer firemen at the scene and began threatening them.

When Officer McGuire tried to arrest him, Ginocchi allegedly punched McGuire in the face/neck area at least three times.

He used his stun gun but it did not have any effect on Ginocchi.

Officers later determined the stun gun struck a cell phone in Ginocchi's pocket.

Police eventually took Ginocchi in custody and charged him with aggravated assault, simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct.

He is expected to be arraigned in the morning.
