Minnesota Officer Dies Following Shooting

Lake City police officer Shawn Schneider, who was shot in the head Dec. 19, died from his injuries Friday night.

Lake City police officer Shawn Schneider, who was shot in the head Dec. 19 while responding to a domestic call, died from his injuries Friday night, reports KARE-TV.

The Mayo Clinic issued the following statement to the press: "We are very sorry to report that Officer Shawn Schneider of the Lake City Police Department died earlier this evening in Saint Marys Hospital at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. The family thanks everyone for their overwhelming support and well wishes during this difficult time."

Schneider, 32, had been in critical condition since the shooting, the station reports. He was a nine-year veteran of the department and he leaves behind a wife and three young children.
