Florida Officer Critically Wounded in Shooting

Lakeland Officer Arnulfo Crispin was critically wounded while responding to a report of suspicious people at a park Sunday night.

A Lakeland police officer was shot and a suspect was arrested following a multi-agency manhunt that ended Monday morning.

Officer Arnulfo Crispin, 25, was critically wounded while responding to a report of suspicious people at a park in the 1600 block of Crystal Grove Drive shortly after 10:15 p.m. Sunday night, according to The Tampa Tribune.

The officer -- who has been with the department for 18 months -- was transported to Lakeland Regional Medical Center where he underwent emergency surgery that ended around 3:30 a.m.

His wounds were described as life-threatening.

Police arrested 19-year-old Kyle Williams just after 8 a.m. the following morning and have a warrant charging him with attempted first-degree murder of a law enforcement officer with a firearm.
