PACIFIC BEACH, Calif. --

A man was arrested Friday morning after assaulting two San Diego police officers in Pacific Beach.

The officers were responding to a noise complaint around 10:30 p.m. at an apartment complex in the 3000 block of Ingraham Street.

When police arrived, Tyler Torres opened his door and tossed his little puppy at the officers. Torres then physically assaulted them, injuring both a male and female officer.

Torres then locked himself in his apartment and told officers he had a knife and a gun.

After a three hour standoff, officers blasted his balcony with pepper balls and then stormed his apartment.

Torres was taken into custody and his puppy was taken away by police.

The two police officers are expected to recover from their injuries.
