Tenn. Auto Theft Probe Takes Strange Turn
Dec. 15--CROSSVILLE -- An investigation into the theft of a vehicle that Crossville Police recovered last week led police to a residence where they found numerous computers, computer parts and cellphones, as well as two persons wanted on outstanding warrants.
The suspects are not facing additional charges concerning the property found at the residence at this time.
Johnny Ray Davis, 25, 409 Highland Ave., is charged with aggravated burglary and theft in outstanding warrants unrelated to the present investigation, and with the new charge of criminal impersonation.
Aubrey Chantel Braunm, 24, 195 Rabbit Hill Dr., is charged with vandalism in an unrelated case and with new charges of criminal impersonation and evading arrest.
Police found Braunm in the kitchen area near a utility closet in a residence on Village Lane, but gave police the name of Heather Phillips, and provided police with the Social Security number assigned to a Johnson City woman. When informed she would be placed under investigative hold until her identity could be identified, she admitted to being Braunm.
However, while talking to police, she was able to slip the handcuffs from her wrists and over her hands, tossed them down and fled from police custody, according to Ptl. John Karlsven. She was tasered as she ran between two buildings.
Upon being taken into custody a second time, Braunm told police she had swallowed a large volume of drugs and police called an ambulance to the scene. But as she was prepared for transport to Cumberland Medical Center, she attempted to slip out of her handcuffs a second time and had to be restrained.
She was treated at CMC's emergency room and later released into the custody of police who placed her in jail at the Justice Center.
The purpose of police traveling to Village Lane was the recovery of a stolen vehicle abandoned at Terry's 19th Hole on Genesis Rd. A police investigation led officers to the residence where they found Davis and Braunm.
Inside the residence they also found the two and a third person, Randi McIntire. Inside the residence were "several computers and computer parts, a key cutting machine and multiple cellphones."
Davis told police he was taking an online locksmith course and that he repaired cellphones.
Investigation into the auto theft is continuing with police narrowing their probe on one suspect, but as of deadline Monday, no new charges have been filed.
