PITTSBURGH

Police arrested a man accused of prowling and stealing from the Allegheny County courthouse on Sunday.

Investigators said Antonuan Thomas, 41, of Homestead, is facing several charges including burglary, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.

According to a statement released by the Allegheny County Sheriff's Office, Assistant District Attorney Jerry Johnson entered the courthouse Sunday afternoon and was startled by a man scurrying throughout the district attorney's office.

Investigators said that when Johnson questioned Thomas, Thomas said he told him that he became agitated and said that he was retrieving his bag.

Police said Johnson asked Thomas to go to the guard's station so he could be properly identified. After being questioned, Thomas confessed to prowling throughout the courthouse looking to steal whatever he could. Furthermore, Thomas stated that he had taken items from a judge's chambers, the district attorney's office and other buildings throughout downtown, police said.

Thomas is currently in the Allegheny County Jail.
