Texas Police Officer Injured in Cruiser Crash

A South San Independent School District police officer was hospitalized after crashing his patrol car early Tuesday morning.

SAN ANTONIO --

A South San Independent School District police officer was hospitalized after crashing his patrol car early Tuesday morning.

Investigators said the officer was driving a South San ISD patrol car southbound on Barlight which dead ends at Navajo Street around midnight.

According to the investigators, the officer tried to stop, but said he hit the gas pedal instead of the brake and slammed into a retaining wall.

The patrol car was a total loss and the crash cracked the 3-inch wall, investigators said.

The officer was taken to University Hospital for treatment. The extent of his injuries were unknown Wednesday morning.
