INDIANAPOLIS

Indianapolis police are investigating a burglary at the Apple Store at Keystone at the Crossing that resulted in the theft of thousands of dollars of high-tech merchandise.

Two men used a sledgehammer to break into the shopping center and then into the store, which is just inside one of the entrances at Keystone at the Crossing.

The men stole 18 laptop computers, 14 iPads and 17 iPhones, RTV6's Jack Rinehart reported.

The laptops were valued at $1,200 apiece, with the iPads priced at $800 and the iPhones at $400. The total value of the items taken was $39,600.

The burglary was caught on surveillance video. At least one of the men involved cut himself while breaking out glass at the shopping center, leaving blood behind on the doors and in the store. Police may be able to extract DNA from that blood.

The store was open on Monday, and workers were going through their inventory to retrieve serial numbers from the stolen items.

If the devices are turned on, investigators will be able to get a GPS fix on them.

There have been several recent burglaries at Apple Store businesses across the country.
