WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. --

A Winston-Salem police officer who was involved in a crash Thursday morning while on his way home from an overnight shift is being charged in the crash, Highway Patrol troopers said.

Troopers said the crash involving Officer J.A. Rojas happened on Styers Ferry Road about 7:15 a.m.

Troopers said Rojas' patrol car collided with back of a second vehicle, sending that vehicle into a third. Rojas and another person were taken to Forsyth Medical Center to be treated for minor injuries, troopers said.

Rojas was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid colliding with another vehicle.
