Houston Officer, Motorist Injured in Wreck

A motorist and a Houston police officer were injured in a two-car accident in southeast Houston Monday, police said.

Oct. 03--A motorist and a Houston police officer were injured in a two-car accident in southeast Houston Monday, police said.

The accident occurred about 1 p.m. at 5298 Sampson at Southmore, police said. After the officer's patrol car and the other vehicle collided, the private vehicle struck a utility pole, witnesses said. A small fire at the scene was quickly extinguished.

The motorist and the officer were taken by ambulance to a hospital, a supervisor at the scene said. Details of their injuries and the accident were not immediately available.
