THIBODAUX, La. --

A K-9 officer with Thibodaux police led officers to a man committing a burglary, police said.

Officers began investigating a vehicle burglary early Tuesday about 3:50 a.m. in the 1400 block of South Barbier Avenue.

While on scene, officers noticed several other vehicles had been burglarized.

A K-9 officer and a patrolman arrived at the scene to help with the investigation and were led to the 1300 block of Midland Drive where they “surprised the suspect” who was burglarizing another vehicle, police said.

The man was identified as Larry Coleman, 20, of Napoleonville.

A surprised Coleman fled on foot but was apprehended shortly near the intersection of Glenn and St. Bernard drives.

Police said Coleman was in possession of stolen items.

Coleman was arrested on five counts of simple burglary and one count of resisting an officer.

Coleman was later transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center where he remains in lieu of bond.
