Shoplifter Hits Iowa Officer With Car

Police said a suspected shoplifter hit a Council Bluffs police officer with his car Friday.

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa --

Police said a suspected shoplifter hit a Council Bluffs police officer with his car Friday.

Police said John Chestnut, 27, hit the officer while the officer was investigating a theft at a Walmart near the South Expressway and the Interstate 29 interchange Friday.

Officers later pulled Chestnut over near Highway 92 and I-29.

Police said three kids were in the car.

Chestnut was charged with attempted murder and child endangerment charges

The officer hit by the car was OK, police said.
