WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. --
Officers said they arrested a man in connection with an armed robbery at the Huff Shell station at 101 South Broad St. on Saturday.
Store staff said a black man came in, said he had a weapon and took the money from the cash register. The man fled a gray in color Dodge Durango, witnesses said.
A short time after the robbery, officers were dispatched to a stranded motorist, at U.S. 421 south at Main Street, that had ran out of gas.
When they arrived at the scene, officers said they discovered that the vehicle and driver matched the description of the perpetrator of the armed robbery. Further investigation led to the arrest of the driver, Moses Bernard Gist.
Gist was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, with bail set at $5,000.
