HOUSTON --
A Houston police officer crashed during a high-speed chase with two teenagers, officials said Thursday.
Investigators said the incident began Wednesday at 10:15 p.m. when a woman called police to report that her minivan was stolen from her driveway in the 9200 block of Lake Forest.
An officer spotted the vehicle and tried to pull it over, police said.
"I guess police told them to stop and they don't want to listen and just run," said Karisma Franco, the owner of the minivan.
The minivan driver took off with the officer in pursuit. The van and the officer crashed at a turn in the 5100 block of McCarty Road from Mesa, investigators said.
Desmond Dabney, 17, and a 13-year-old girl were inside the van and took off on foot, but were arrested a short time later, officials said.
Dabney was charged with felony evading arrest in a motor vehicle and felony unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
The 13-year-old was charged with misdemeanor evading on foot.
Franco said thieves have targeted her family's vehicles five times in the past year.
"The last time, they take my dad's wallet and some work tools, and they take another minivan," she said.
No one was injured.
