N.C. Officer Hurt After He Hit Trees With Cruiser

A High Point officer is recovering after a crash near Asheboro on Saturday afternoon.

ASHEBORO, N.C. --

A High Point officer is recovering after a crash near Asheboro on Saturday afternoon.

Troopers said Officer Randal Allen Knight was on Highway 220 at the Spero Road intersection about 4:30 p.m. when the crash occurred.

Investigators said Knight took his eyes off the road for a second and had to swerve to avoid hitting another car when he looked back up. Police said Knight's car collided with two trees.

Officials said Knight was slightly injured and was taken to the High Point Regional Medical Center.

The extent of his injuries has not been released.
