SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. --
A Sun Prairie police chase came to an end Tuesday night when the driver being pursued ran out of gas.
Around 9:30 p.m. a sheriff’s deputy started following a speeding car northbound on Bailey Road, just north of County Highway T in the Town of Sun Prairie, according to officials.
The chase continued onto Bird Street just outside the city of Sun Prairie at speeds of more than 80 mph. Officials said that's when officers chose to end the pursuit due to safety concerns inside the city, but just moments later, the driver, Kevin Bidinger, 26, of Sun Prairie, also stopped. His car had run out of gas.
Police arrested Bidinger on suspicion of felony eluding an officer, third offense OWI and carrying a concealed weapon. He was also cited for speeding, operating without required headlamps, possession of THC and open intoxicants.
Bidinger was booked into the Dane County Jail.
A Madison police K-9 patrol unit and Sun Prairie police assisted the Dane County Sheriff’s Department in the arrest.
