Pedestrian Dies After Hit By Houston Patrol Car

Detectives said the man stepped out in front of a marked patrol car that was traveling in the 3800 block of Lyons Avenue about 2 a.m. Sunday.

HOUSTON --

A pedestrian died after he was hit by a Houston Police Department patrol car, officials said.

Detectives said the man stepped out in front of a marked patrol car that was traveling in the 3800 block of Lyons Avenue about 2 a.m. Sunday.

Officer T. Fletcher was on his way to an assault-in-progress call when the incident occurred, police said.

The pedestrian was taken to Ben Taub Hospital, where he died Monday. His name has not been released.

Fletcher is assigned to the Northeast Patrol Division and was sworn in September 2007.
