Both officers are expected to recover from their wounds after the shooting occurred while they responded to a possible drug deal in an alley.

Two Chicago officers were shot Monday night on the city's west side, according to The Chicago Sun-Times.

Both officers are expected to recover from their wounds after the shooting occurred in an alley near South Karlov and West Wilcox at approximately 10:45 p.m.

One officer was shot behind his left ear and the other suffered a graze wound in the head and also was shot in the arm.

The Harrison District patrol officers, both 29, observed what they believed to be a drug deal and exited their cruiser when a suspect opened fire before fleeing the scene.

"God was with us tonight," Police Supt. Garry McCarthy told the media early Tuesday outside Stroger Hospital.

More than one person is being questioned about the incident but police wouldn't say if the shooter is among them, according to the news report.
