Man In Custody After Joy Ride in Mo. Police Cruiser

A man was taken into custody early Saturday morning after going on a joy ride in a Kansas City police cruiser.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. --

A man was taken into custody early Saturday morning after going on a joy ride in a Kansas City police cruiser, police said.

Authorities told KMBC-TV that the police officers were assisting an ambulance crew on a medical call at 10th and Broadway streets about 4 a.m., when a man jumped in the officers' cruiser and took off.

Police pursued the vehicle to 18th and Wyandotte streets, where the man jumped out of the patrol car and ran. Officers were able to take him into custody after a brief foot chase.

No charges have been filed.
