July 10--A Pueblo police officer hit a skateboarder at 10:45 a.m. Saturday at 13th Street and Grand Avenue.

Officer Daniel Pratt was driving north on Grand when he hit Edwin Negron, 20, riding east on 13th on a longboard.

According to police and emergency radio traffic routinely monitored by The Chieftain, the police cruiser struck Negron at between 10 and 15 mph. Radio traffic said he rolled on and off the car and suffered right leg injuries, the extent of which were not released.

Sgt. Pat Van Ryn said Pratt's car, unit 812, was equipped with video and they believe Negron "blew a red light."

The victim's board was broken in the accident. The police cruiser sustained light damage and Pratt worked the rest of his shift.

Negron was cited for "skateboard use," according to a police report.
