Calif. Officer Killed After Two Cruisers Collide

An Alhambra police officer was killed and another was injured after two cruisers collided early Sunday morning, according to KTLA-TV.

Officer Ryan Stringer, 26, died at the hospital following the crash that occurred near the intersection of North Garfield Avenue and East Main Street at approximately 2:30 a.m.

Both officers were responding to a reported robbery in a parking lot when one of them ran a red light, officials told the news station.

Paramedics treated the officers before transporting them to a local hospital.

The other officer, who remains unidentified, is listed in serious condition.

Police Chief Mark Yokoyama said he is expected to soon be stabilized.

Stringer was a two-year veteran of the department.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
