A sheriff's deputy, and two others are recovering this morning after a crash Tuesday night outside the Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam.

HONOLULU --

Lt. Michael Oakland with the Department of Public Safety told KITV4 News the deputy was conducting a traffic stop by Lagoon Drive at the Airport about 6 p.m.

The traffic stop continued onto H-1 Freeway, and ended at the entrance to the Hickam Air Force Base gate.

Emergency Medical Services officials said a man and woman in the car swerved at the entrance to the gate and hit a utility pole.

The man was taken to the trauma center in serious but stable condition and the woman was taken by federal firefighters to a hospital, also in serious but stable condition.

The deputy sustained minor injuries, a DPS representative said.
