June 28, 2011
A Douglas County sheriff’s deputy was hit by a car Sunday night. He was treated and release for a broken leg.

OMAHA, Neb. --

Authorities said Harold Ohlinger, 31, was in uniform, directing traffic after a fireworks show near 156th and Butler streets.

According to the Douglas County sheriff, the 16-year-old driver didn’t see Ohlinger and hit him in the back of the leg. Ohlinger was thrown over the car, authorities said.

Officials still haven’t determined whether the driver will be ticketed. They said alcohol was not a factor.

Ohlinger suffered a broken leg in the incident.
