Responding Virginia Trooper Killed in Crash

A Virginia State trooper was killed Friday night in a horrific crash while responding to assist a colleague.

Trooper Adam M. Bowen, 28, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to WJLA.

Responding to a call for assistance, Bowen's patrol car collided with a Hyundai Elantra at an intersection on Route 3 at Madison Drive. 

Following the collision, the cruiser ran off the road. It struck a traffic light pole, split in half and the front end continued into a nearby parking lot where it crashed into three parked cars, the station reported.

He was prounced dead at the scene. Two civilians in the car also were hurt.
