KANSAS CITY, Mo. --

Local law enforcement on both sides of the state line are conducting a special operation on Monday to help return stolen property and make local streets safer.

Law enforcement officers are working on a saturation patrol to make sure that drivers pulling large equipment on trailers are doing it safely. Police said they are looking to make sure trailers are connected correctly, tire pressures are adequate along with proper lighting. They are also checking heavy equipment to make sure that it's not stolen.

This is the second year for the heavy equipment Saturday patrol. Officers will be taking part in the Mo-Kan heavy equipment task force in Jackson and Johnson counties all day.
