ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, Md. --
An Anne Arundel County police officer is in the hospital after he crashed his car while responding to an emergency early Friday morning.
Police said Officer Adam Hinson was responding to an armed robbery and assault shortly after 5 a.m. when an unknown vehicle pulled out in front of him on Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard near Harriet Drive, causing him to lose control of his car.
Investigators said Hinson's car ended up traveling sideways across both lanes of the boulevard and hit a vehicle that was parked on the northbound shoulder. The car continued moving into the grass, hitting a fence and a truck that were parked in a driveway.
Hinson was taken to Shock Trauma, where he's listed in serious but stable condition.
Police are still looking for the driver of the other vehicle.
Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is urged to call the traffic safety section at 410-222-8573 or police communications at 410-222-8610.
Hinson is a five-year veteran of the force.
