Denver Officer Hit By Patrol Car While Directing Traffic

The officer was directing traffic after a U2 concert when he was struck by a cruiser. The hurt officer was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

DENVER, Colo. --

Denver police said an officer was hit by a patrol car while directing traffic leaving a U2 concert Saturday night.

Police spokesman Lt. Matt Murray said a policeman on traffic duty at 1701 Bryant St. was hit by another officer transporting a prisoner just before 11:30 p.m.

The officer hit was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries

Murray said the officer driving the patrol car remained on active duty pending results of an investigation.

The Denver District Attorney’s Office will decide if any criminal charges should be filed. Denver police were also launching an internal investigation.
