THE DALLES, Ore. --

An Oregon State Police trooper is recovering tonight, after chasing a motorcycle rider.

OSP says Trooper Jason Calloway was hurt while running after Colin McCurdy in The Dalles on Thursday.

Authorities say the situation began just before 6 p.m. when a trooper saw McCurdy on a motorcycle, speeding at 120 miles an hour and passing other cars on the shoulder of Interstate 84 near Rowena. They say that trooper tried to stop McCurdy, and that the chase eventually left the freeway and went into The Dalles.

OSP says McCurdy ditched his motorcycle near Fourth and Laughlin streets. They say McCurdy then scaled a fence and was about to scale another when a Wasco County sheriff's deputy grabbed him and arrested him.

McCurdy faces several charges, including attempt to elude and reckless driving.

Trooper Calloway had be taken to the Mid Columbia Medical Center. He was treated and later released.
