BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. --
A Boynton Beach police officer has been arrested after he used a Taser gun on a fellow officer last month, police said.
Officer David Coffey was arrested Thursday on charges of culpable negligence and improper exhibition of a dangerous weapon.
Boynton Beach police said Coffee approached another officer from behind, put the Taser gun to her ear and shocked her.
According to the arrest report, Coffey told the officer he did it to get back at her for honking her car horn at him in the parking lot more than a month prior.
Coffee was fired in 2007 after an internal affairs investigation determined he used excessive force on a suspect.
Police said surveillance video showed Coffee grabbing the suspect by the throat, pushing him into a bench in his holding cell and forcing his head against the concrete wall. Police said Coffee also used his Taser gun on the suspect during the arrest.
Coffee was rehired in 2008 after an arbitrator ruled he should get his job back.
The injured officer is being treated for hearing loss.
