Miami Beach Police Car Hits Pedestrian

A man was recovering at Mount Sinai Hospital Thursday morning after he was struck by a Miami Beach police officer's vehicle .

According to Miami Beach police, a detective driving an unmarked car hit the pedestrian crossing Washington Ave. just after 4 a.m..

A witness said a man was leaving a nearby Food Mart and was crossing the middle of the road when he was hit.

“All of a sudden I saw both the cars slam on their brakes," said Michael Miller, who witnessed the accident. Miller said the victim was bleeding from his head.

The lights on 14th Street were flashing yellow when the person was hit, according to police.

The man is expected to be OK.

Miami Beach police continue to investigate the incident.
