HARWOOD, Md. --

A Harwood man faces attempted murder charges after police said he rammed several patrol cars and injured three officers.

William Richard Leapley Jr., 27, was also charged with attempted manslaughter by motor vehicle, assault and reckless endangerment, police said Thursday.

Investigators said Leapley assaulted a family member Tuesday night on Solomons Island Road, then returned to the scene Wednesday morning. When officers arrived, police said Leapley left the residence, entered his truck and hit four patrol cars and one citizen vehicle.

Leapley was eventually taken into custody on South Polling House Road.

The injured officers were treated and released from Anne Arundel Medical Center.

The case is still under investigation.
