BEND, Ore --

A Salem man was arrested early Saturday morning in Bend after getting hit by an Oregon State Police patrol car.

Authorities said 27-year-old Delbert Handsaker was trying to cross an unlit road when he was hit by the patrol car’s side mirror. The Bend Fire Department treated Hansaker for minor cuts.

State Police said Handsaker was intoxicated and was wearing only shorts. He continued to walk from the scene of the accident until the state trooper caught up with him again. Handsaker was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and for having an outstanding warrant, police said.

The warrant’s charge is not yet available. Authorities said he was being held at the Deschutes County Jail.
