Man Commits Suicide on Phone With Colo. Dispatcher

Emergency dispatchers in Colorado Springs are dealing with a suicide that happened live on a 911 call.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. --

Emergency dispatchers in Colorado Springs are dealing with a suicide.

Police said a man called 911 Sunday afternoon to report a suicide.

Police said the man then said "Hold your ears" and dispatchers heard a gunshot over the phone line.

When officers arrived, they said the 74-year-old resident was dead with a gun in his hand.

Police said they found several notes indicating how the man wanted his funeral handled.

The man was under medical care for various ailments, police said.
