ORLANDO, Fla. --
Sen. Bill Nelson (D - Fla.) is asking the federal government to do more to protect law enforcement.
Nelson's office sent out an e-mail Thursday evening asking the Justice Department to consider giving federal agents new technology to survive a surprise attack.
The new technology includes a device that would allow officers to look through walls and help agents see if suspects are hiding inside homes or businesses before they move in.
"This technology could greatly shift the odds in favor of the good guys," Nelson said in the e-mail.
Nelson's call for consideration comes after 11 police officers were shot in the U.S. in five days, including four officers in Florida who were killed.
