OAKLAND PARK, Fla. --

A burglar sneaked into an Oakland Park home Saturday, stealing a woman's purse as she sat just a few feet away, watching television.

The burglary occurred at a home at 3420 NW 20th Ave. at about 7:20 p.m.

The Broward Sheriff's Office said Evelyn Pignataro, 61, was at home when a man entered through a sliding-glass door. The man grabbed Pignataro's purse from a kitchen chair and escaped, police said.

A home surveillance camera captured video of the man entering the rear gate of the house and then leaving the porch area after stealing the purse, according to BSO.

BSO said Pignataro did not realize the burglary had occurred while she was at home.

Anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477).
