Miami Police Officer Injured in I-95 Crash

A Miami police officer was injured in a crash that shut down several lanes of I-95 during the morning commute Friday.

MIAMI --

A Miami police officer was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital Friday morinng after she was injured in a multi-vehicle crash in the southbound express lanes of Interstate-95.

The crash involved six cars and shut down several lanes of southbound Interstate 95 at State Road 112, causing major traffic delays during the morning rush hour.

“Several witnesses say the police car may have been struck more than one time because of the direction it was facing,” said Lt. Ignatius Carroll.

According to police, the officer has bumps, bruises and an injured leg but will be OK.

Two other people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Detectives were interviewing witnesses to find out what happened and who is at fault.
