Wis. Officer Head-Butted, Suffers Concussion

MADISON, Wis. --

A Madison Police officer was head-butted in the face by a belligerent and intoxicated man as he struggled with police and Dane County detox center staff Thursday morning, according to the Madison Police Department.

The officer sustained a black eye and possible concussion from the blow, according to the police report.

Police said they were called to the BP gas station at 1130 Williamson Street after Franklin L. Kerr, 35, tried to slap a clerk. He was also yelling and harassing customers.

Kerr faces charges of battery to a police officer and disorderly conduct.

Police said Kerr faces charges in six different states after he was accused of public intoxication, menacing threats, domestic abuse and obstructing an officer. He was arrested in Madison on Jan. 15 on two counts of disorderly conduct and one count of trespass, police said.
