HOUSTON --

A man tossed money stolen from a bank out a car's window when police followed him, investigators said.

El Lago police said Perry Elliot, 48, robbed the Compass Bank in the 4400 block of NASA Parkway on March 10.

A Lakeview police officer spotted Elliot's getaway car a short time after the robbery and began to follow it, officials said.

Investigators said Elliot started throwing things out of the vehicle, including about $3,000 that was covered in red dye.
