ATLANTA --
Two people were injured when the go-cart they were riding in crashed into an SUV in northwest Atlanta Sunday.
According to police, John Thomas, 24, and a female passenger were driving the go-cart west on Proctor Street and ran a stop sign. They struck a Nissan Pathfinder headed north on Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard shortly after 4 p.m. Sunday.
Atlanta police spokesman Carlos Campos said both Thomas and the woman, also 24 years old, were thrown from the go-cart.
The woman is listed in critical condition with severe head trauma. Thomas is in stable condition, suffering a broken leg and ankle. Both were brought to Grady Memorial Hospital.
Police expect to charge Thomas in the crash.
Campos said the driver of the Pathfinder, Marcus Raines, did remain at the scene and the crash is under investigation.
