PORTLAND, Ore. --
Oregon State Police are asking for your help in finding a detective’s missing handgun.
OSP says around 1:15 p.m. yesterday, the detective went into a unisex restroom near the Intensive Care Unit inside Legacy Emanuel Medical Center, and placed the gun in its holster inside the restroom. The detective then left without the holstered gun, police say, and didn’t realize it was missing until after leaving the hospital.
State police say they have contacted hospital security about the gun. Security officers searched the area and interviewed hospital workers and visitors.
OSP also notified law enforcement in the Portland metro area, and help is now being sought from the public.
The handgun is described as a black Glock model 22, and it has been entered into the Law Enforcement Data System as a lost or stolen weapon.
Anyone with information that may help with the search should call Sgt. Jon Harrington at 503-731-3020, ext. 258.
