Fla. Trooper Hurt When Chase Ends in Crash

A Florida Highway Patrol trooper suffers minor injuries in a crash that was the result of a chase of a carjacking suspect from Baker County.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --

A Florida Highway Patrol trooper suffered minor injuries in a crash that was the result of a chase of a carjacking suspect from Baker County.

Troopers said the man carjacked a woman on state Road 121 in Macclenny.

Troopers and Jacksonville police spotted the suspect's car on the Westside of Jacksonville and began chasing it on Interstate 295.

The suspect led more than a dozen troopers and officers on a chase over the Buckman Bridge to Interstate 95 northbound in busy rush hour traffic. The crash happened at Phillips Highway and University Boulevard, ending the chase.

Police said the suspect went through stop sticks before merging onto I-95 and then exiting on Phillips.

The carjacking suspect was not injured in the crash. His identity was not immediately released.
