Trailer Crash Kills Ariz. Tribal Police Officer

SAFFORD, Ariz. --

The Arizona Department of Public Safety is investigating a crash that killed one man near Safford.

Warren Youngman, a spokesman for the Bureau of Indian Affairs said that at about 3:30 p.m. Sunday, 26-year-old Aaron Peru, a San Carlos Tribal Police Officer, was on his way to a mandatory meeting and traveling west on US 70 just west of Safford.

Youngman said that a vehicle towing a trailer was traveling east on US 70 when the trailer and the vehicle separated and the trailer struck Peru's vehicle.

Youngman said Peru died from the injuries he suffered in the crash.
