BALTIMORE --

A former Baltimore City Police Department officer who lost his job after a controversial video was posted on YouTube is trying to regain his job and will appear in court Monday.

Salvatore Rivieri, a 19-year veteran of the force, was terminated in August amid a public outcry after a confrontation with a skateboarder at the Inner Harbor.

The video was posted on YouTube and registered tens of thousands of views.

Rivieri's attorney said he believes the publicity of the case played an inordinate role in his client's firing, and not the minor infractions cited in the official police report.

He said that Riveiri was found not guilty of the allegations of misconduct regarding what aired on YouTube.
